Step-by-step instructions
- Score a 11 ½″ x 6 ¾″ piece of white cardstock in half to create a 5 ¾″ x 6 ¾″ card base.
- Cut a piece of white cardstock to 5 ½″ x 6 ½″. Ink the edges with the Duet Inkpad and then stencil the butterfly design all over the piece. Once dry, mat onto a 5 5/8″ x 6 5/8″ piece of black cardstock and glue to the card base.
- Cut a piece of watercolor cardstock to 4″ x 5″. Stamp the large butterfly into the center. Stamp again onto a piece of Mask-It Tape, trim around the edges and adhere over the image on the watercolor cardstock.
- Blend the Duet Ink all over the stamped panel. Apply the Shimmer Ink through the damask-style stencil, only blending through small areas and moving the stencil to build up a fragmented design all over the panel. Remove the mask.
- Watercolor the butterfly using the TriColor Aqua Pen – scribble the ink onto a glass mat (or any non-porous surface that can be wiped clean afterwards) and pick up the color with a damp paintbrush. Here, Soothing Shade has been used for the majority of the butterfly with a touch of Bamboo for the tips of the wings and the body. Once dry, add glitter glue to the wings.
- Mat the Butterfly topper onto a 4 1/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of black cardstock. Adhere to the card base using foam tape.
- Stamp the sentiment onto a piece of white cardstock, mat onto a slightly larger piece of black cardstock and adhere to the card using foam pads.
