Follow our easy step-by-step guide to using these clever floral sets to cut out and build layered fabric flowers. We’ve used the the primose and blossom dies from the Fabulous Flowers set to decorate a box frame, ready to hang up or brighten any mantle piece!
What you’ll need:
- Gemini Multi Craft Flower Dies – Fabulous Flowers
- White, Pink, Purple and Green coloured felt or material
- Fabric glue or Glue Gun
- Brads
- Patterned paper
- Sentiment stamp
- White Inkpad
- Gemini Die Cutting Machine
- 8″ x 8″ box frame
Step-by-step instructions:
Primrose flower:
- Take the Primrose dies from the Fabulous Flowers set and lay the centre die on a piece of white felt or fabric. Take the large and small heart-shaped petal dies and arrange on a pink piece of felt or fabric.
- Follow the instruction manual with your Gemini Die Cutting Machine to cut out the shapes plus four more pink petals.
- Use a brad to pierce the middle of your centre piece.
- Take a petal piece and add glue to the bottom point. Pinch it closed and allow to dry. Repeat with all of the large and small petals.
- Glue the small petals around the bottom of the centre piece.
- Use glue to attach the large petals around the outside of the smaller petals. Your primrose flower is complete!
Blossom:
- Take the blossom dies from the Fabulous Flowers set and cut out the following from purple felt or fabric:
- Two Pointed Blossom Petals strips
- Two Circle Blossom Petal strips
- Two small circle petals
- Four large circle petals
- Take one of the circle blossom petal strips and place some glue on the bottom edge.
- Lay the second circle blossom petal strip on top, slightly offsetting so each petal sits in the gap of the bottom piece as shown.
- Apply a line of glue on the bottom edge and staring at the smaller end roll the piece up.
- Take the two small circular petals and apply glue to one edge of each. Attach to the blossom flower as shown.
- Apply glue to one edge of each of the four large circle petals. Attach to the flower at four even points as shown.
- Repeat the previous steps to create a second circle blossom flower.
- Take a pointed blossom petal strip, place hot glue on the bottom edge.
- Lay the second circle blossom petal strip on top, slightly offsetting so each petal sits in the gap of the bottom piece.
- Apply a line of glue on the bottom edge and staring at the smaller end roll the piece up.
- Repeat to create a second pointed blossom flower.
- Cut six to eight leaf shapes from both dark and light green felt or fabric.
Decorating the frame:
- Remove the back panel from your box frame, cut a piece of patterned paper to size, arrange in place and reattach the back panel.
- Starting with the primrose flower arrange the 5 flowers in symmetrical pattern and insert the leaves around the flowers. Once happy with your arrangement glue everything into place.
- If you like you can add a sentiment to create a beautiful home decor piece. Or pop your favourite photograph inside!
